Traveling Truth and Reconciliation Indigenous Art Exhibit

The theme of Truth and Reconciliation brings together artwork is by 22 artists, from different Nations, including Treaty 7, Inuit and Metis artists. We also showcase youth and emerging artists as well. Each piece of art is printed on a panel, and underneath some of the artwork, you can find the meaning behind the piece; while on other panels you will find artwork with suggested actions that you can take to participate in Reconciliation, or as we like to say ReconciliACTION.

This exhibit was developed in collaboration with Alexandra Velosa, Marketing Manager at Southcentre Mall in 2021, and continues to be hosted around the province today. Alexandra Velosa is quoted as saying “We are honoured to have this opportunity to provide a platform that will allow for the amplification of the voices and stories of Indigenous peoples as they share their experiences, culture and heritage with the community at large. We hope that this exhibit will inspire others to take action to support Indigenous communities as we both acknowledge the past and work together towards building a better future where the traditions and culture of Canada’s Indigenous peoples are shared, celebrated and understood. We remain dedicated to working closely with the Indigenous community to further support and honour them as we increase our understanding of how they continue to shape our diverse country”
